White Dog stood in front of me determined to be heard. I was trying very hard not to think about the fact that this was exactly one week since Taiko left us so suddenly. "We are going to have our hands full," she said to me. It was not what I was expecting. "It is time to keep your promise."

Each of the White Dogs is promised that when they cross over the Bridge that we will not sink into pity and sadness. They understand the human need for grief but they also know the many pups in need of homes and care. They know that especially seniors and special needs dogs, often don't get a chance at golden years filled with complete security and utter love.

It is our promise to each of the WDA to look beyond our grief to open our hearts and family to another in need.

Taiko had made his wishes known almost immediately after he got his wings. Today we began to finalize plans to bring Ferguson home to join the White Dog Army. Tai was clear in his wishes and the White Ones agreed. We are excited but I hit a wall of funk as the afternoon progressed.

In the late part of the day I forced myself into the office to try to focus on getting things done. Among my emails was an urgent message from Shelly, the coordinator of the Hospice Program at Albuquerque's Animal Welfare. She wanted to know if we could permanently foster a 14 year old Eskie girl, Nilla, The shelter is past full and although Nilla has no medical issues, they were able to include her in a new program based on her age and the reduced chances because of it of being adopted. I read it to Steve. "What can we do but offer her a home?" he said. She comes to us on Friday.

My Tender Hearted Taiko must realize, that he CANNOT send us every pup he sees from his perch over the Bridge that needs a home. But Ferguson and Nilla will be a wonderful way to focus on life and good memories and the love of our family.

Thank you for all you do for seniors and needy pups. We try, but you are the peak we would like to reach. I am glad Taiko is guiding you (so much!) and that two new furbabies will have a loving home. Becky
