White Dog saw Taiko struggling to get his feet under him. He could not quite muster the strength to push his backside off the ground. He would make it to sort of a wavering crouch and then collapse back to his haunches. He was clearly getting frustrated.
Without a word, WD went over and sat next to her brother. Puff was already there, Puff our nurturer, gently leaning so Taiko could brace his front leg against her body. Zsofia trotted over and stood with her nose touching his as she sang encouragement. Storm paced circles around the group.
The entire White Dog Army understands Taiko's balance is fragile and fleeting these days as we try to find the right mix of healing to get him firmly back on his feet. They know that changing weather like the storms which have been passing through nearly daily cause him pain and confusion.
The WDA is amazingly tolerant of his missteps and are sympathetic to the fear that they see in his eyes when he cannot make his body work the way he wishes. I believe knowing he is safe and understood provides him with some measure of comfort.
Dr. Julia and we humans are trying different combinations and approaches but so far things show promise for a short time and then fail...or there are too many variables to single out one issue. It is frustrating for us so I can only imagine what it feels like to be inside my Tender Hearted Boy's head and body.
Tomorrow we see our vet for a followup for Storm and a wellness check for Sachi; it is certain that we will continue our on-going dialog and show her the new video of Taiko taken over the past few days. For tonight we will be grateful that his pack surrounds him with love and protection, we will pray he is able to sleep, and will hope the morning sees some improvement in mobility and appetite.
