White Dog and the Army respectfully gathered to send their sister off on her journey. They stood silently and at attention as Steve placed our Warrior on a the marigold colored sheet that would become her shroud, then he brushed her soft white furs.

Benson broke ranks when Steve removed Puff's collar and tags. That is the most intensely painful moment of grief for me every time we send a White Dog over the Bridge and Benson sought to comfort me.

The WDA sat as Steve wrapped Puff for her final ride.

White Dog stood over Puff as a final salute and announced to the Army, "Puff did not want sadness. She did it her way always and never surrendered. Let as celebrate her spirit in proper WDA fashion. It is what she wants us to do."

We returned red-eyed but determined to celebrate the extraordinary life that was Puff's. Over donuts and sardines (Puff's favorite "pig-out" foods) we shared memories and stories and looked at photos. In the sharing of Puff's life, we found comfort.

Puff the Magical, Still Another White Dog:
Puff's Gotcha Day, thanks to Terry Dudding and Steve for flying to KS to save her.
It took our nearly feral girl about 30 seconds to find and exit the dog door
and WEEKS to convince her it was ok to come inside.
Puff the squeaker killer!
Puff the Fashionista
Puff's allure had to be kept in check when newly neutered YoYoMa joined us and Puff was in season. THAT was a juggling act and no one was happy!
Duck jerky/? Why yes, please!
Donuts? Heck yes!
Puff's Oxygen kennel where she received O2 therapy everyday to combat lung/bronchial damage done from heartworm
YoYoMa and Puff always had a special bond.
Terry Dudding is the wonderful angel who found Puff and helped us bring her home. This is his shop in Santa Fe.
Zsofia thinks of Puff as her mom. It was toruous when the "Baby" who weighs more than you do wants to climb on you and suckle but Zso grew into a devoted daughter and Puff's constant attendant the final days.

So very sorry for your loss. Puff was one very lucky lady to spend the last days of her life with you and the Army. She knew love, joy, tenderness, and so much more. Soft woos and gentle hugs from all of us.
