White Dog has very definite ideas about how things should be done. Her approach is generally orderly and systematic...and once her plan is set she does not like others to suggest modifications.

Now that the weather is warmer the sun porch door open or closed is a topic for planning across the day. It is still too brisk when Steve goes to work to leave the inner door standing open.Yet if we wait until after the mail is delivered around noon, it is already getting warm in the house.

The WD plan was to have Steve leave the door ajar about one third of the way when he leaves; the the Army passing in and out to the sun porch across the day would gradually push the door all of the way open. Sounded like a great idea in concept.

EXCEPT then Bailey laid across the door after Steve departed. In her stretching and getting comfortable for a morning nap, our big girl pushed the door completely closed. Consequently there was no going out across the day.

WD shared the problem with Steve when he got home and he suggested putting a little rock in the door to keep it from closing completely. He demonstrated by putting a foot sized rock that allowed YoYoMa in the past to open doors into the swing of the door. WD tried out the idea and seemed pleased that it provided a solution.

EXCEPT since this had not been part of HER original plan, she had to find a way to make it her own. All the while Steve made dinner, WD fussed at the door pushing the rock around with her nose and pressing at the door with her paw and body to test. Finally she positioned the rock at the perfect spot...

...and then Bailey excitedly blundered out to the sun porch to be in place for when Steve set her dinner bowl down...

and she kicked the rock out of place.

The flash of White Dog's tail going into her fortress of solitude behind the chairs said it all.
