April 21, 2019

White Dog supervised the loading of socks and Easter treats into the van. The entire WDA watched as Steve made a quick trip to the men's shelter to remember those who are in need. It was our act of hope to celebrate the spirit of the day.

The duck slowly roasted and filled the house with the aromas of a meal to be shared. We were not lacking in volunteers to watch over the oven.
It was the start of Spring Cleaning, this weekend was. "We REALLY need a service staff," White Dog offered and I laughed. Bailey, Zso, and Roman helped with making the front and back yards look less wild; Opal, Bella and Tizenegy sniffed out dust bunnies as we pulled furniture away and vacuumed. The duck roasting smells was a great motivator.

White Dog and Pearl helped me put together fresh strawberry tarts with whipped cream to follow the duck. We listened to George Winston's Spring and tried not to sample away our dessert.

In other words, it was not the Egg hunt on the lawn or the Easter bonnet and gloves kind of celebration. There was no groaning board for 50. It was a family day of comfortable togetherness and sharing little discoveries that made us smile.
It was a day to be grateful for life, each other, and all who enrich our lives...and a day to utter a prayer of hope that every creature on the planet today be gifted with a moment of sun shining warmth on its face that reaches down and sparks the heart to help them press on.
