White Dog shouted "HEY!" which was my alert that something was not as sublime as the quiet would indicate.
Then Opal streaked past me dragging White Dog's fur rug. It was added to a collection assembled in Zsofia's crate which Opal usually shares.
Next, Opal trotted to the living room and returned with Zso in tow. They took up comfortable positions next to me on the bed where they could see the crate and the palette of items Miss Oh! had assembled.
"So, remember we talked about giving our sleep space a new look," Opal began the conversation. "I put together things that are soft and fuzzy which would make them good to use as pillows...or something to cuddle on scary nights. They can be squooshed up to any shape we want. Sometimes you might like the bigger things and I could rest against the littler ones. Or we could just push them aside or even out of the door if we want. It is VERY versatile."
Zso gave her sister a long look. The roomie thing all started when Opal was a frightened newbie and Zso kindly offered to let her spend the night. I do not think Zso bargained for her bedroom being turned into a mod eskie pad.
She chose her words with sensitivity. "Opal, if we add all these accessories it will look beautiful but there will not be enough room for both of us to sleep comfortably. Come on, I will show you."
They both hopped down. Zso entered the crate and sprawled in a stretched out nap position pushing all of the toys to her sister's side of the bed.
"OK. Now you come in and get settled." Opal stood, two feet in the crate and nosed at the toys. She squeezed in but found she could not lie down. Opal shook her head.
"It is not going to work, is it?" "Not unless this is your way of telling me that you are moving out." Opal looked horrified. "I would NEVER do that to you, Little Sister!"
Opal picked up the edge of the rug to return it to White Dog. "Back to the drawing board," she said sadly. Zsofia was gentle. She did not press the point of moving out but said encouragingly, "I know you find just the perfect answer."
