December 15, 2019

White Dog had planned a nice leisurely day of ordering groceries (to try the system which could be a time saver), and making dad's famous oyster crackers ("It is a crazy recipe," she says, "there are no oysters in them.")

And that is the way it started.
And THEN the casters, two of them just split apart on the little cart that holds my computer. Without the ability to wheel it to me I would be computerless. SO the crackers were put on hold and Steve went hunting for casters that fit and failed. He ended up buying a little dolly thing that he retrofitted.

Then he and his Assistant went back to the kitchen and I fired up the computer. Only I could not connect. Finally, tired from shouting "Try This"s from the other room, he went to his computer. "I need to submit my timecard yet tonight," he said...followed by "oh crap!" An hour of dancing around with our provider yielded a "looks good now" from them...and a "Well, it still is not connecting" from Steve. A tech will be out TUESDAY to replace the modem.

So our IT wonderkid, Steve, connected us up through that fancy cell phone I will never make fun of again. Which means I can post this. Which means we can watch a bit of TV tonight. Which means the groceries can be ordered for delivery on Monday morning. Which means Steve CAN work from home tomorrow morning.

...and which explains why Steve and his Helper are packaging up crackers at 10pm. "White Dog," I called her. "let's NOT risk stirring up imps of misfortune by saying tomorrow is going to be light and easy."
