White Dog is home. Dr. Julia and Rosie drained eight ounces of fluid from the pseudocyst There was a minipocket of fluid (the estimate was less than on ounce) that remains because the area was to vulnerable to a nick or poke through. WD was sent home to continue the antibiotics with a checkup to come in one week.
Tonight My Girl is in lots of pain which prompted a call the our vet right before the end of business day. Dr. Julia authorized both gabapentin and galliprant with strict orders to call first thing with an update. She is hoping White Dog's reaction is a result of all the internal maneuvering and an unhappy pancreas. The facts that WD is walking, albeit sort of hunched over, and is hungry and able to eat are good signs.
Since the pseudocyst is a rare (in dogs, not so in humans) offshoot of pancreatitis, I guess that there is some inflammation and pain involved. Our White Dogs who have bouts of just "ordinary" pancreatitis were given pain meds and were extremely uncomfortable. Still, White Dogs soft moans tear into my heart as we wait for the pain medications to take effect. And it erases my happy illusion that the procedure would be done and WD would come home as though nothing ever happened...we will get to the point but it is not tonight.
The fluid has been drained, she is home, and has had some broth for dinner...we, The White Dog Army and I, will take that as a sign of success. Now she sleeps in Steve's arms indicating the pills are taking effect. In this lull, I will go and count my new grey hairs.

We are so glad sweet White Dog is home, but sorry to hear she is still in pain. We send love, purrs and all good thoughts that the pain meds will kick in, and that the coming days will be better ones. XO
