White Dog told the White Dog Army, "It is not often we get to display our full nursing capabilities to a real member of the medical profession; let's show the good doctor our best stuff."
I have been having difficulty clearing up an infection of my little toe. After two rounds of doxycycline and sending photos of the toe to my doctor, she decided that she best come in person and do an exam.
Ahead of her visit Steve secured the WDA so they would not be underfoot but before she even saw me, she stopped to greet each pup and to make clear they would not be a bother. The WDA loved her instantly.
And when she revealed she had shared her life with Zeus, the husky, and a fluffy Samoyed, we knew she was "one of us." She allowed Zsofia, Bella and Opal to observe my examination then filled in Bailey and Siku. She even held her hand up to Roman's crate so he could sniff and lick (not a action for the faint of heart non-dog lover).
Each member was given the task of watching over me and taking care not to step on my toe, with its deep ulcer between the toes. "No licking the medicinal honey we will be using on it," she commanded every pup. "It is needed for healing." To be thorough she ordered an x-ray and wound treatment nurse to visit. "Let's see how all that and the antibiotics work at clearing it all up."
She stopped on the way out to pet each of the Army. She won the house by telling Steve, "Your dogs are so well behaved! Mine were totally undisciplined." Then she shared a story of Zeus stealing the roasted chicken and setting himself up next to the sofa where the family was eating dinner on trays and watching a movie.
Bailey sighed as the doctor left. "How lucky momma is with a doctor program that comes HERE, and that has such well matched health providers to our needs. She is pretty much perfect, I think!"
