White Dog watched from the loved/hated (depending on her mood) new donut bed. Bailey and Opal had Prime seats on the sofa. Zsofia and Roman were out in the kitchen in the thick of things. Today was White Dog Army homecooked food prep day.
Once every month or so we shift into producing the WDA's dinner mixture. Steve mixes mackerel, scrambled eggs, rice, and a variety of vegetables and fruits then roughly chops it smaller (yes, our dogs DO sort if we don't) before scooping it into freezer containers. We make enough for about 30 days and portion into containers which we store in the dedicated WDA deep freezer.
There is never a shortage of volunteers to sample the mixture as it progresses or to make suggestions about additions...like Zsofia's idea to microwave then mix cooked zucchini into this month's version. "We have so much of it, Dad, everyone keeps giving it to us."
The final review of the batch comes at tonight's dinner when it is served to the entire WDA.
Even White Dog has a few spoonsful in addition to her baby food and bites from dad's plate.
