White Dog was awakened by Opal at the Watching Window calling out. "Come see! White Dog was right. It is the first day of Autumn and our ancient sheltering tree has welcomed the season with a special sign. See the yellow leaves?"

White Dog turned her face to Steve and smiled. "You know the tradition, Dad. When the sign appears, we get pumpkin pancakes for breakfast."
