White Dog asked for release today, just one day after her seventeeth birthday. Her decision to wait, I suspect, was to lessen Steve's pain. It seems she already had spoken to Zsofia, she who will assume the role of leader, and the White Dog Army...ALWAYS the White Dog Army...will hold a celebration of life in White Dog's honor tomorrow and will read her letters to each of us.

I am paralyzed from forcing myself to understand that forevermore time will be measured thus:

Before Siku Marie

The Golden Years of Sikku Marie

AFTER Siku Marie

Dear Sue & Steve & White Dog Army,
I am so sorry and yet so happy she is going on her own terms with dignity and so very
much love. I know the heartbreak that you all will deal with and I send prayers and
loving thoughts to all of you.

Take care and know that there are many of us with you all,
Lucy (Troy, Ohio)

Sue and Steve...I am so sorry for your loss. Although 17 years seems like a long time, it is never enough for those precious pets that we love so much. I know this season will be filled with much sadness but remember the love that was given and received in your home.

Again, I am so sorry.

(I made you a memorial picture, but I do not have an email address to know how to send it to you. It will be on our blog, soon...you could snag it from there, too. You can also ask me for it here: ingrid at rickmar dot net)(Just change that address to make it 'proper')

Seventeen is a long life for a dog, but it's never long enough for those who love her. Gospeed, Siku Marie, and God bless your family.
