White Dog encouraged me to write the letter. "Your demand for change will never be heard if you don't speak out," she goaded. White Dog was right, the school needed to be told of its responsibility to help the
community's needy--especially when a single young mother's educational dreams are at stake. I wrote the letter and made my recipient list under White Dog's watchful eye and reassuring nudge. We both believe we can make a difference.
