White Dog's bark changed tone from curious to threatening. When she ran past me and stood on the bed ears flattened, hackles raised, deep growl vibrating I knew to follow her. Max had heard White Dog's alarm as well and was sending a threatening message of his own. There was a guy, unauthorized of course, wandering around our yard and talking on his cell phone. He ignored the canine challenges and my calling to him as he walked past White Dog and I who were standing at the patio door. White Dog bared her teeth and stuck by my side as we stepped out to confront him only to discover that he had disappeared through the padlocked gate or over the garden wall. White Dog and Max have been on red alert since.
