White Dog is my daemon so I expect that she is knowingly aware the second I think what my next move or action will be. That (and the fact we BOTH value the Queen more than any other piece) is why I won't play chess with her.

The others are nearly equal in skill at anticipating me and reading my mind. I m pretty sure that I do not telescope my intentions and I have a proven record of being able to keep secrets. I play a passable game of poker. Yet beyond the Universal furbaby/human food connection (which EVERY dog masters) the White Dog Army is amazing in their abilities.

Of course EVERY member of the WDA is able to hear the sound of the jerky bag opening from any spot indoors and out on our property; they can even hear it from inside the car pulling into the driveway. I have thought at times that we should experiment what the diameter of the "know the bag is opening" zone is; I bet we are talking MILES.

And they can differentiate THAT bag sound versus the bag of dried egg noodles, for example. They come careening to a screeching halt millimeters from my toes in the case of the first and respond not at all to the second.

All can be soundly sleeping around me in the office or lounging in the living room...heck, Zso can be sleeping in the bedroom down the hall with Stormer snoring in her ear...but the instant I quietly reach across the desk to turn off the monitor and to grab my glasses case to exchange pairs, everyone in the house leaps to alertness and shows up at my knee before I even swivel the chair around. It is not like I am totally quiet when I work until THOSE moments...I answer the phone, shuffle papers, use the printer, actually write with pen...in reality the shutting down is nearly soundless. But conversely, I go long periods in silence as I concentrate and focus. Yet they KNOW the difference and react accordingly.

"How do you know?" I ask and then feel the need to explain my stopping...for a bathroom break...to stretch my legs...to switch tasks...to head into the living room. Or the response they most await: "Yes, it FINALLY is treat time! thanks for being so patient."

Yes, we all know what THAT sound means. And isn't it always treat time? They are just waiting for you to catch up! lol
