White Dog and the Army were busy getting things ready for the new recruit. Where would he sleep, at least until he was here long enough to decide for himself. Which bowl would be his? And leash? White Dog got ready the White Dog Army handbook for Roman's reading pleasure and assigned Opal to be his special mentor. "You are so kind and understanding of everyone," White Dog told her. "He will need a stable, loves being at-home mentor who will help him settle in."
Roman has been being readied for his recruitment from Houston Eskie Rescue for a couple of weeks and is now, weather willing, preparing to come to us on February 4th, Sunday.
And we are preparing for our newest Boy who comes with a story of his own. All of the White Dog Army have been getting to know him through the daily photos we get and exchanges. We know for example, that like his new sisters, Bailey and Opal, that Roman is a clothes thief. We know he is a big cuddle bug. And that like our Nilla, he prefers to quietly yield rather than (like our vocal Zso) argue a point. As WD tells us, "This is just a sketch of who Roman is. We will have a long long time to get to know him as he becomes one of us."
I think Bailey was a bit disappointed that we all still have DAYS to anticipate him; she dropped the tennis ball she held as she stood on the end table looking out of the window for him when White Dog told her it was still five night-night walks away.
Thanks, Mala, for taking the time each day to send us an update for for sharing these moments. Soon, Sweet Roman...
