White Dog looked me. "Are you sure you can handle them BOTH?" I seriously nodded. "Little White Dog of My Heart, it is Nilla, the calmest most accommodating girl on the planet and Bella who will be glued to my side the moment we walk out of the house. It will be fine. And don't forget dad is with us as well."
Both Nilla and Bella had appointments to see Dr. Julia this afternoon; Nilla to followup on her skin issues and Bella to get her rabies vaccine so that the WDA could be city permitted.
I held Bella in my arms and reminded her this was how she rode when she came to us. She smiled and was calm. The entire visit was one of discovery of just how far My Tiny Dancer has evolved. She did not even flinch for the shot. She never once melted down into quivers or hiding. Bells let Dr. Julia take a quick look for vitals to confirm that at our girl's wellness exam the beginning of next month a dental would be needed. But for now, all was good and Bella was a champ.
Nilla's skin is much improved; her eye infection is totally cleared. We will continue one more round of antibiotics both because of the skin and to continue her monthly treatment to protect her susceptible mouth from gum infections (she is not a good candidate for sedation and a dental). Dr. Julia did shave the furs around growth on her back leg (Nilla has been chewing on it). "Let's have her in next week and I can use a local to remove it," Dr. Julia said. "It is driving her to chew and that is not good. It won't take but a few minutes to do and she will be much more comfortable after." Nilla did not look convinced that she liked the prospect of being away from home all day.
Back home after a round of good health celebratory treats, Bella regaled her siblings with her adventure and her secret. "I just kept thinking of all of you waiting for me and momma's promise to always keep me safe. It was scary but I just did it."
