White Dog hurried out to see when the Army's barking changed from "Intruder Alert" to "COMPANY!" At the same, I got a computer message from Barbara, "Are you home? I am at your door."

She came in the back door, surprising the WDA, while I changed glasses and turned off the computer....and then waited the ten minutes it took for the Barbara greeting to subside. For all of us she was a happy unexpected surprise.

We all agreed how cool it was that she now lived so close. A couple of months ago she moved into the city, about 7 minutes from us making such spontaneity more likely than when she lived rurally.

Bailey and Zsofia battled for face licking rights while Roman buried his head in her lap. Opal brought out a stuffie to share. When she and I moved into the office to use the computer, the entire Army followed. Barbara recognized some of the faces on the Tribute Wall and had to hear the stories of others...all while generously rubbing ears and giving hugs to the crush of furries surrounding us.

It was an all too short visit but the WDA understood when she said she had to go home to feed Jeep and Sweetie. I was jealous of her limberness as she climbed over the protective babygates to make her exit. "I hope I am not giving anybody any ideas," she laughed.

When Steve got home a while later, he was bombarded by news of the visit before he even shut the front door.
