White Dog nudged me. "Did you see that? Tizenegy just JUMPED for his dinner. And he did not stumble once on the flooring getting to his eating place."
Tizenegy's response to the adequan shot therapy has been incredibly good. He could be the poster boy for the medication which inhibits enzymes that break down cartilage within the dog's joints.
He went for his shot today. The protocol is adequan twice a week for four weeks (a total of seven shots) and then the new recommendation is to do the seven "loading dose" treatment twice a year. This completes week two for our boy.
Dr. Julia and her nurse, Rosie, were stunned. Tiz hopped out of the van, walked confidently to the vet's door, maneuvered around the door swing and walked across the tile floor...all without a hitch or stumble.
We are surprised as well. CA Stormer was on it and did well for a few months, but never THIS well, and with Stormer the effectiveness diminished over time. Perhaps the new dosing will help the loss of efficacy. But for now I cheer everything Tiz walks to the dog door and manages to get out...and in... without mishap. It is wonderful to see him happily moving without timidly thinking about the next step; he give me hope that I may reach that point some day (no, adequan is not for human use).
His brother and poor Bella might at times wish Tizenegy was a bit LESS reanimated for his refound enthusiasm for life causes him to knock into our littlest girl and gives him the courage to stand his ground and garbage talk Roman. And momma now must remember how quick our boy is to grab treats from her fingers lest she get nipped. Small sacrifices for the improvement we all say.
