White Dog played the "Good News and Bad News" game with me when she returned from visiting Dr. Julia. She was still a little miffed at being "manhandled" as she pointedly called it despite the facts that Dr. Julia is not a man nor is she rough.

"So the good news," White Dog told all of us gathered around to hear her report. "Is that my eye wound is healed. And that everyone there is overjoyed at how well the PRP Therapy is working."

"The bad news is that I need to use Liquid Tear Drops to help my dry eyes in this dusty season. I also need to eat more so that I gain weight and muscle mass; SHE says it will make me more steady on my feet."

"Seems like eating more could be a good thing. Everyone here (including momma) is already mighty jealous of your special calorie-laden meals finished with ice cream for dessert. We might try mixing up some Satin Balls, a recipe invented purposely to help rescue dogs in bad shape gain weight...not that you are in bad shape but the food would maybe add some weight. That and drinking more water so you do not need subq could be LOTS of good news," I told her.

"And yeah, thanks alot, momma, for having Dad ask the doctor about her thoughts on the effectiveness of PRP on my jaw muscles." WD has, in aging, experienced a thickening of the muscles of her jaw which makes chewing and opening wide difficult. Several people have mentioned that they knew of Platelet-Rich Plasma Therapy because their dentist uses it post mouth surgeries which got the momma wheels turning. "I wonder if..."

Dr. Julia was very excited at this extension of the therapy. White Dog is due next week to receive her third (and final for now) treatment on her hips/spine; we are going to append a jaw site injection to the treatment. "She is going to consult with her mentor on the procedure," Steve reported, "and perhaps even ask her to assist. Dr. Julia agrees this would be a natural, already human tested, use for PRP. If White Dog could open her mouth and lap water, chew comfortably, and have an interest in eating food not pureed first, it would go a LONG way to a total recovery."

"And there was a final bit of good news," Steve looked at White Dog. "Our Girl is completely 100% recovered from the stroke."
