White Dog has developed a nightly habit thanks to Dr. Julia's dictum of "Let her eat anything she wants, she needs the calories" ...each evening dinner is capped with a bowl of ice cream. Sometimes it is vanilla, for a week she was wild for Dreamsicle (vanilla and orange sherbet), pistachio always gets raves, butter pecan is beloved. Fruit flavors like strawberry or cherry depend on her mood. Needless to say, there are now always several choices in the freezer.

And the others are not denied. Each gets a heaping spoonful from momma's bowl...provided politeness and good manners are exhibited. They, in turn, provide momma with the heavenly smell and small taste of the creamy delights without causing health issues.

Earlier I was, for a moment, thrown when White Dog requested Mint Ice Cream. There are lots of mint chocolate chip choices at the store and even the fancy hand packed place only offers mint with chocolate. As I was about to tell White Dog she was out of luck, Bella jumped in with "we have cream AND mint flavoring we can just make our own." Suddenly every pup was all excited about a cold project on a 95 degree F day. Even Steve was digging through the cabinets looking for the ice cream maker.

To avoid the clatter and organization in the kitchen I took WD and we went to the computer to find a recipe that would be quick and easy. "And have a high yield," she added.

"Success even if it is not green!" was the verdict as we all ate our very own house blend mint ice cream.
