White Dog has a special companion in Bailey. Bailey, the WDA's nurturer, most afternoons and many nights squeezes herself into the open crate in the office. While there are other beds in the room, this is the closest to where White Dog sleeps.

Her positioning gives her the perfect spot to supervise office activity during the day. Bailey also takes advantage of her proximity to WD when Steve offers bites of lunch...or a snack nibble. Bai is a master of stealth in stretching and taking a treat completely into her mouth and not giving away her "score" by chewing; the others nearby are seldom alerted.

At bedtime, White Dog often misses her bed buddy, Bella, and gets anxious being in the office by herself. We have attempted to entice her to join the rest of the family in our bedroom but White Dog cannot sleep in the crowded room filled with huffing, snoring, and wee hour trips outside.

Bailey seems to understand and, in solidarity, snuggles into the crate to help White Dog relax enough to let sleep come. Once WD is gently evenly breathing, Bai then often comes to the bedroom to cuddle in the big crate with Zsofia as has been their habit since Bailey's arrival.

But if White Dog stirs in the night or calls for Steve to take her outside Bailey is awake and at WD's side. Again, she waits until sleep returns to White Dog before coming back to her own bed...often long after Steve is snoring next to me.
