White Dog rested her head on my knee. "You are going to miss her, aren't you?" I nodded and thought about all these months (since before the pandemic) that Nurse Lyndzy has visited every week to keep my health on track. Today, thanks to health insurance rules, I was to be discharged. I will still be in the home healthcare program and my docotr will check in every two months or so.

As usual, Lyndzy was met at the door and led by my furry nurses back to the bedroom. There was one final blood draw and then information to complete.

The White Dog Army could barely wait until the formal stuff was completed before they could surprise her with the special box luncheon we made for her. "We know you call an energy drink breakfast and never have time for lunch so we made you something you could nosh as you travel or, even better, take a 15 minute break at the park." Opal breathlessly told her.

Steve handed her the lunch bag. "And what do I have," she asked. "A bologna sammich," Zso joked. Bailey was horrified. "Dad's famous creamy spicy white chili, some tomato basil crackers, and, the best of all...espresso brulee," Bailey and Roman sang out.

"I am going to miss all of you," she said as she went around hugging each White Dog and the humans. She handed me a card. "Don't read it until after I go or we will both be a mess."

I'm sorry you lost a caregiver. AND friend. Hopefully she will stop by now and then to visit.
