"If this is an indication of how March will go, it will be a GREAT birthday month for you, momma," Zsofia said nodding at the window.
Steve was out in the yard with Lilly and Roman. We have been super cautious about allowing them to be loose in the same place at the same time. Roman still is not comfortable with our new girl and his response to her varies from turning his back and ignoring her to baring teeth and uttering threats from his side of a divider. We do not want to trigger his fears into physical aggression. This beautiful warm beginning of March was hopeful in feeling. "Keep everyone else inside, I am taking Roman and Lilly out to the yard to try a little nonconfrontational socializing," Steve requested. Both pranced around the yard, keeping a distance but not acting fearful. After ten minutes of the three enjoying the sunshine and strolling the yard Roman burst through the dog door as Steve and Lilly came in through the kitchen.
Treats were shared all around with an extra for Roman and Lilly. "It was only 10 minutes," Steve said, "but they did a great job ignoring each other or just quietly observing. I will try to repeat this time together in the yard time again tomorrow; hopefully over time Roman will see Lilly is not a threat."
Bravo, Roman and Lilly. Time and love.
