Lilly and Diva are Team One for Bedtime Walks. As usual they rushed to Steve waiting on the sun porch and excitedly asked to be harnessed. When the door is opened both girls know they must pass through, go down the two steps and sit on the landing until Steve closes the door and adjusts his grip on the leashes. From there the Team makes its way down the drive and begins its walk.
Tonight, the girls sat on the landing for maybe two seconds before Diva crouched down and went into hysteria overdrive while staring under the car. Lilly took her cue from the Tiny Terror and took off down the rest of the steps to hunker at the car trying to pull out something cowering under the carriage. Lilly is a big strong girl and she nearly yanked Steve's arm out of its socket as she lunged and tried to move around the vehicle.
Diva crossed back and forth tangling leads and wrapping Steve's legs s she, also, tried to get at the screaming cat. Since she is small, it was a possibility that she could reach the creature. Steve tried to physically drag them down the drive; it was more than a power workout. He would make a few steps' progress just to have Lilly whip around and head back up the drive.
Of course, the cat did not take the opportunity to run to safety elsewhere, instead opting to stay under the car loudly crying for help. Inside the house, the White Dog Army heard the ruckus and were compelled to add vocal support since the mean momma would not let them out to share in Team One's fun.
Steve came into the bedroom limping and rubbing his shoulder. Everyone else dashed out to the yard to see if the intruder could somehow be captured via the back gate. "Walks are done for tonight," Steve announced. "We did not make it even to the property line and I feel like I have been used as a pinata. And the cat refuses to come out from under the car so we are done."
Bailey and Zsofia wanted to know why THEY had to miss out on the fun.
