The forecast is that by the weekend, temperatures will uncomfortably be in the nineties. One of our favorite lines that we hear from those who have not experienced Albuquerque's summer is "it is a dry heat;" as if somehow it is not sweltering. The double-coated White Dog Army laughs and laughs.

"It is time to open up the evaporative cooler," Steve announced. He began by removing the plastic breeze barriers covering the vents; then he opened the louvers and washed everything clean.

Before he went up on the roof to check the pads and reconnect the water line, he asked the Army to be the testers and let him know when cool air began to filter down from the vents. He had volunteers galore to rest directly across from the vent in the living room. Lilly and Opal chose to assist by resting under the vent in the bedroom.

When Steve came down from the roof every supervisor gave a favorable report. "Bring on the Summer," Zsofia challenged. "We will be cool and ready."
