Diva does not understand the careful time and effort that Opal has invested inching her relationship forward until Roman accepts (and enjoys) her nose touches and saucy invitations to play. It is a heartwarming slice of normality to watch Opal prance up to her brother, rub against his face, then dance around challenging him to run after her. It is a ritual shared only between these two and Opal knows to back off if Roman is not receptive to having fun.
Diva has a personality less nuanced and her approach is a swaggering jig as opposed to Opal's ballet. Our Littlest Girl got a very different response to her request to play with Roman. He failed to equate Diva's charging toward him barking enthusiastically with a chance for a fun game of chase. His boundary setting growl stopped and insulted her. Quickly the dialog became sour.
Roman went to the kitchen to help Steve and Diva hopped up next to me, still complaining about her "ungrateful" sibling.
