"Um, dad, you really didn't finish the story of Puff last night like Momma told it. Please tell us the rest of the story. Please?" begged Zsofia. All right everyone, gather around for another bedtime story.

You know about Puff flying back on the little racing plane with me. She and I were in the back seat of the plane and Terry was the pilot. Puff was in a crate so that she didn't cause havoc all around the cabin. But just getting her in the crate was a challenge. When Sherry, the eskie breeder, dropped her off at the Salina airport, Puff escaped from all of us and we had to chase her around until we caught her again. She was kind of wild, really.

After the plane ride back to Santa Fe, I had to drive another hour to get home. Puff sat way in the back of the van and shivered the entire trip. When I brought her in the house, I immediatly placed her in mommas arms. That was the photo I showed you last night. When she jumped down, she ran to the dog door and went into the back yard, where she stayed until I brought her back in.  After a few days, she started to follow me around everywhere I went in the house. She became a loyal companion and loved going for night walks.

We took her to see Dr. Julia as soon as we could get her an appointment. Dr. Julia came back with some very concerning news - Puff had stage 3 heartworm. This was quite serious. We were worried that she wouldn't be alive much longer. Dr. Julia started a course of medicine right away, and we anxiously awaited further results. After a long course of strong medicine, Dr. Julia came brought us the best news that Puff was free of those horrible heartworms!

When Puff came to us, she was alredy 12 years old, which is rather old, right Opal? You're 14 years old now. "Oh, dad, I'm still able to beat you in a race in the back yard!" exclaimed Opal. You're still quite the athlete, little Opal. Well, so was Puff. She lived with us for 7 wonderful years. Zsofia and Opal, you're the only ones who still remember Puff.

"I wish I could have known Puff, exclaimed Bailey." "I think she and I would have been fast friends." Puff loved everyone, Bailey - yes, she would have loved all of you. Now, it's time for bed! "Yay, that means bedtime treats!" hinted Lilly.
