"Dad, how are we going to celebrate the winter solstice today?" asked Roman. "Well, Buddy, I thought we would celebrate it by eating lunch since the solstice occurs at about a quarter to three this afternoon. Of course, by lunch, I mean that all of you will get bonus treats in addition to the regular afternoon treats. Shall we have duck jerky today? Does that sound good?"
A mighty chorus erupted in the house at the mention of both "treats" and "duck jerky". Since both Roman and Lilly are a little food agressive, they remained separated by the gate. "Dad, how often does the solstice occur? Every week? Every day?" Roman inquired.
"Buddy, there are two solstices per year, separated by about six months. The next one happens five days after Momma's birthday on March 20. Don't worry, there are plenty of celebrations between then and now. In fact, the next celebration is TOMORROW! It's Siku's birthday and, even though she crossed the Rainbow Bridge last year, we will certainly celebrate the special day. After all, Siku is responsible for establishing the entire White Dog Army."
May the Brightness and Warmth of the Sun's Rays Enlighten Every Corner of Your Heart and Home. Happy Winter Solstice to You!
