We made cherry pancakes and each pup received one in their morning breakfast bowl. "That was great, dad! Can we do this EVERY morning? Please!", begged Opal. "I think we need to save pancakes for special occaisions like Christmas Eve and your birthday. Would that be okay?" "But, dad, my birthday isn't until June! That's a whole half-year away." sighed Opal with resignation.
"Remember, gentle Opal, that there are lots of gotcha days, birthdays, and rainbow bridge celebrations that are part of the White Dog Army. You might almost get your wish of having pancakes more often," I recounted. "Oh, and I have more good news. You all get to eat dinner early tonight because dad has accepted an invitation to visit our extended family this evening." Every member of the White Dog Army perked up at THAT thought.
