White Dog was curious but gentle and well-behaved when Milo (a 4' long iguana) came strolling off her office perch to visit.

Eye-to-eye they sat amicably although White Dog tensed possessively when Milo laid across her favorite bone. For awhile, they shared the sofa's back, each watching the long afternoon shadows march across the neighborhood.

White Dog rolled her ball over to Milo and issued a tail-wagging invitation to play. She was disappointed that the lizard ignored the ball.

Milo got into a bit of climbing mischief and White Dog "told" on her...but only after making sure the iguana wasn't hurt.

Why can't humans be like this, I wondered as the predatory lawlessness and mayhem in New Orleans was revealed on the television.
