White Dog lay at the top of the basement stairs barking hopeful prayers and encouragement to Adam as he examined our non-functioning furnace. First, good news: He didn't think we needed to replace the entire unit...but it would take a little detective work to single out what the problem was. White Dog cheered and wagged her tail as she trotted with him out to his truck for voltage testers and tools. Back down in the bowels of the house, Adam clunked around and fussed. White Dog sat next to him and looked expectantly when he came and sat on the chair with his diagnosis. "I've got the pilot light relit and it is staying on..." with that the furnace rumbled to life ..."but the thermocouple looks iffy. I'll pick up a new one to be preemptive and come by on Saturday to put it in. Call me if you have any more trouble before then." White Dog and I smothered him in thank you hugs and words of gratitude...and then our Knight in shining armor drove off, leaving us once again warm and toasty.
