White Dog rushed over to Brenna and flopped on her back for a belly rub. Then she checked the healing of her wrist by sniffing the cast. Finally White Dog climbed into the chair with her "Big Sister" and laid her head on Brenna's lap. White Dog could sense the serious ten-year-old's disquiet and was trying very hard to make Brenna smile. Poor Brenna was feeling guilty about getting an adult in her life "in trouble" by telling her mom that she and her toddler brother had been left alone and without a phone "for a long time." White Dog reinforced to her her what we humans already had told her...that kind of secret is NOT a secret to EVER keep! Brenna just buried her head in White Dog's soft fur.
