White Dog and Steve discussed the weather forecast for overnight and decided that it might be too cold to leave Tortuga outside in his pen. Even though we have not prepared his winter hibernation space in the basement we didn't want to risk his health by making the cold-blooded reptile stay where he could not burrow to get warmer (which is what he would do in nature). So Steve and White Dog carried the tortoise inside and gave him temporary shelter in the bathtub. Tortuga wasn't very happy about the move but at least he was warm. Throughout the night I heard White Dog go into the bathroom to check on Tortuga and then quietly return to bed.

Awww. Moma's got some great tortuga stories to tell. They took place in Costa Rica. Thanks for prompting the memories. You are a great friend and protector.

Moma actually did volunteer research on the Costa Rica east coast beaches (near Nicaragua) and tagged the green sea turtles as they came in to lay their eggs. She said it was way cool. Her funnest "vacation" yet. One day she'll have to blog about it for us. She has shown us some awesome pictures.
Thanks for asking!
Jake and Fergs (who've only seen Florida land turtles)
Hey....over here....your west coast family is about to be served as roasted pig barbeque, it is so darn hot here! Would you be so kind as to send a little of that fall chill this way please????
