White Dog was busily at work rebuilding her earth art (A Study in Negative Space) in the yard all morning. Dirty nosed but happy she came in to announce its completion just as Steve came home from school. They immediately went out to critique the work which I viewed from the deck. It was well designed, a little deeper than White Dog was tall and large enough in diameter to house many treasures...or a fluffy white puppy in need of a dust bath. Stuffie Curly had been strategically placed in the bottom to provide a sense of scale. The leaves came right to the edge of the hole forming a beautiful camouflage effect. White Dog had chosen a location that received morning sun but was sheltered by the wall from gusty winds and prying eyes. All in all, it is one of her finest works...White Dog will not be happy tomorrow when Steve fills it back in!

Fill it in??? Why will he do that? White Dog will surely find another spot.

Mom found a costume for TD, now to get him to wear it AND let her get a pic.

Fill in your hole? Not fair. You did so much work.

Digging is so much fun. You are lucky that your Mom and Dad still let you. My Mommy and Daddy broke that habit a long time ago for me.:(

White Dog, did daddy give you lessons in architectural design?? Sounds like such artistic talent runs in the family.

If you take all your toys out there and put them in your condo, dad CAN'T fill it in - he would bury them, and he wouldn't want to do that! Hurry - go make it impossible for anything to fit in there but you and your underlings!!

White Dog. You seem very strategic and prudent. I will try to learn from your techniques as I dig wildly through the big basket of stuffies that are mine. That's the closest I can come to digging in the earth, but I think I can learn from your example. The ideas of perimeters, shelter and markers make a lot of sense to me. Now the question is: can I become so focused?

Appreciatively,
