White Dog missed the Thundering Herd's predicted Friday mudbath because the weather stayed grey and merely threatening...no actual wetness or snow accumulated. She was forced to go looking for something to roll in to take the shine off her blindingly white fur. She thought the pile of leaves in the far corner of the yard might be the ticket as she pulled them away from the wall and spread them enough to roll in...but all they did was crumble into pieces; only a few even clung to her coat. White Dog then scouted around for cat scat left by the neighborhood outdoor cats, but it seems she has done too good a job of convincing them to stay out of her yard. By this point she needed to roll and was getting frustrated. White Dog eyed the dirt-caked tarp on the back deck and stepped on it; but she decided she did not like the crinkling noises or the texture so it was a "no go." She came in and sat next to me. "There's no place for a dog to have an enjoyable roll..anywhere!" she complained. We thought a minute and I suggested, "Why don't you roll around on the bed; go ahead mess up all of the blankets; enjoy yourself!" She looked at me to make sure the offer was real and was off for the bedroom. I came in a few minutes later to find White Dog in a twisted nest of blankets and pillows, squirming on her back. What could make such a scene more perfect, you might ask? Why, belly rubs, of course!
