January 30, 2010

White Dog and I watched the Wolf Moon rise last night over the buildings. It was the biggest and brightest moon that we will experience this entire year and the fact that it occurred in January made it very special in folklore. The moon was stupendous and we both felt its pull. Later, during their prebed walk Steve and White Dog again experienced its magic. After their tour of the neighborhood, both stood in the front yard. White Dog turned nose into the wind and head thrown back so that she could stare at the glowing orb; she then let out a slow and mournful howl. Steve said the act was so primitive and beautifully ancient that it sent shivers down his spine. Very early this morning the two headed to the Park to greet the rising sun and to howl the moon to sleep.

Too bad you didn't catch that on video - that would have been awesome to see. Mom says we were pretty wild and crazy on the deck last night - we told her it was the wolf moon's fault

Our official thank you note:

Thank you so much for all the purrs and prayers for our little hansel. It means the world to us- and we truly believe that with everyone in the cb - it's how we got through all of this. We don't know what we'd do without everyone! Hansel is doing very well - walking around, but we did have to put his cone on- as he thinks he should eat his sutures. He is eating, taking meds, drinking, using the litter box, everything is fantastic!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

-mom bean,
and the whole gang!

Hi my BFF - wasn't that an amazing site last night? When I went outside to talk to you in our stars, I was drawn to the wolf moon too, so I barked. That's so cool that you howled - I don't think I know how to, but I know you heard me anyhow!

I miss you!

Love,
Prinnie

We've not forgotten you, nor have we neglected taking time to enjoy the wonders of our world. Like you, we watched the moon rise, float overhead and set. And ... did you see Mars? The planet was in opposition to the sun that night ... and traveled side by side with the moon from moonrise to moonset. That won't happen again until the year 2016. We felt very privileged.

As always, your friends
