March 2, 2010

White Dog and Quinn are spending the first of many "normal" days together. Steve is at work; Michael at school. The two Eskies are showing a disinterested interest in each other...nobody is yet to the point of "hanging together," but White Dog checks on Quinn often and comes to me concerned when he has a coughing attack (the vet said not to worry it is a temporary effect of the tube and anesthesia used during his neutering). Quinn is comfortable enough to have found a couple of favorite napping spots. He comes over periodically for reassuring pats and head scratches, which White Dog allows me to give without complaint. For this, she is getting extra encouragement and loving hugs. Adam came and White Dog insisted on being greeted first. After that, she introduced her brother and watched as Adam gave him a head rub. Then both Eskies curled up and listened to the humans catch up.

Today is Michael's 18th Birthday. When he gets home from school, there are presents for him to open. White Dog generously shared her gifts so that Quinn (who doesn't have an allowance yet) would have a fancy bag to put his name on. Inside he will discover White Dog has chosen an collection of books for him to enjoy. Quinn has gifted "manly" smelling shower gels and a scrubbie. Steve and I were practical and gave him boring clothes.

After Michael visits his mom at the hospital this afternoon to celebrate with her, he and Quinn begin dog classes. We will all go so that White Dog can make sure both are comfortable and situated. They will be in Jesse's very capable hands, so White Dog is not worried because she knows Jesse is an excellent trainer (she trained White Dog). I have talked White Dog out of making a list to give her that details what needs to practiced for Quinn and Michael to become the "perfect citizens" she is, because it is, after all, it is only their first day. While they learn, White Dog is looking forward to strolling the aisles at PetSmart, watching the birds, and finding "samples" under the dog food shelves. After, we will have a birthday dinner that we all can share.

How exciting, Siku. You are being such an amazing big/little sister! Quinn is so lucky to have you as his mentor. My moms get all teary-eyed when they read about how you and Quinn are finding your way together. Me?? I want to warn you that the treasures you find at the PetsMart food aisle might....just might....have doggie pee all over it! All the ones here in So Cal have my brother's "claim" marking their spot!

I miss you and Quinn so much, but you will always be my BFF!

Love,
Prinnie

We're glad everyone is getting settled in. Wish Michael a happy birthday!

Thanks for the heads-up on the coughing. I'll keep an eye on Comet. BLU should be fine since she's on antibiotics already from her tooth extraction. Oh, and the appetizer recipes are posted :-)

hey Siku Marie,

Happy 18th Birthday to Michael! And how very generous of you to share your gift so that Quinn could give Michael his own set of gifts! So sweet! I hope you were able to share in some of Michael's birthday dinner!

I hope Quinn smells and feels much better after his grooming. And good luck to Quinn on doggy school. It can be rough, I think...I have yet to go. ;->

Hi Siku and Quinn,
We're glad that everyone is settling in nicely. Hope that Michael had a great birthday.

Tell your pawrents that Petco and Petsmart are very big on pet adoptions and sometimes they offer special discounts on food, grooming, etc. for adopted pets (with proof). You can call first and ask to speak to a Manager.

Hugs and yips,
