White Dog and Quinn have become minor celebrities at the rehab center where Michael's mom is recuperating. When we walk in the door to visit--Steve, Michael, White Dog, Quinn and I--nurse techs scatter down the four wings to announce, "they're here!" to all the patients and staff that have been warned that we were coming. The way to the visiting room is like a trip down the red carpet, with stops every few feet so that White Dog and her brother can be admired and petted. Patients come in wheelchairs and walkers to drop into the room for a few seconds to cuddle the White Ones and share stories of their furbabies back home. Admirers are not limited to those under care, the techs and nurses also come in for a furry greeting and the chance for a lick on the hand. The entire time, White Dog and Quinn are poster dogs for well-behaved social interaction making time for each visitor and patiently accepting pats and hugs and baby talk. Michael glows with pride at the fact that "his" dogs are so well liked; and my sister shines to be in the spotlight...the envy of so many at the Center. As White Dog tells Quinn, "Just a little kindness to humans goes such a long way!"

P.S. We broke 200comments! Let's not stop now! Keep up the good work; it only takes a minute! Don't forget to visit Ben at http://lifeon3legs.wordpress.com/2010/03/18/a-year-ago/ and leave the comment, "Ben You Rock!" Animal Rescue money is earned for every comment! You can revisit the site more than once. Visit everyday until April 10th and help this great cause...especially since any comments over 250 will be donated in tribute to the wonderful work Khyra and her mom do for transporting rescued animals...do it for Ben...do it for Khyra...do it for all the animals that will be helped! BEN, YOU, AND ALL RESCUE DOGS, ROCK!!!

What a beautiful picture this post brings to mind. I have long thought that woofies and kitties, indeed any fur friend can bring healing, peace and serenity to those in hospital, nursing homes or similar. This is a lovely example. Siku and Quinn are doing a sterling job. I can bet they get as much pleasure out of the trips too.. Hugs GJ xx

isn't it amazing how the simple act of seeing a dog can be so beneficial?

It is so wonderful that Quinn and Siku are able to go and visit at the hospital - it really sounds like they brighten the day for so many people.
