April 11, 2010

White Dog saw Steve unloading violas and dahlias and tomato plants from the car and rushed out to help. She knew what that meant: an entire morning of White Dog and Steve working together in the yard to begin the Spring Spruce Up! She sniffed the new plants and guarded them while Steve went into the shed for the tools and wheelbarrow. White Dog ran in to tell me the news and saw Quinn sitting at the door, not understanding the meaning of the all her activity. She yipped for him to come out...but since he is (as far as we know) not trained for off-leash yet, Steve set him up with a tie-out under the big tree in the front of the house. We think in his previous life Quinn had been left tied up outdoors all of the time and were not too surprised when he balked at the arrangement and begged to go inside. So while Quinn lay at my feet and watched the family budgeting process, White Dog oversaw our Springing into the growing season. Now all three are tired from their exertions and time spent in the warm sunshine; I suspect it will be an early to bed night.

Sounds like a great day.

Still need to wait at least one more month before we can put flowers in here.

Too early here to plant the flower beds, but we can't wait. As you will see from today's post, Ciara decided to start helping already with the potted plants.

We are thinking of planting some things....only certain things can go in the ground this time of year here. But before long we will be able to go all out! Sounds like you had a great day!

It sounds like a good day - you are lucky you can start planting already. We are in the May 15 zone (at least that is the date my dad always claimed). It sounds like a good day for everyone - I can understand why Quinn prefered hanging out inside though.

You should get a wireless dog fence for him. I use Havahart's Radial-Shape Wireless Dog Fence since it has a 11 and a half acre radius.
Here's the wireless fence I'm talking about:
