White Dog rode along to pick up the completed taxes from the accountant and to share the good news! The solar energy tax credit provided a windfall refund for our family which normally operates at a "break even" tax filing. We rushed home to celebrate with Quinn, who was less than moved...until we broke out the chicken jerky! We judiciously avoided overreacting and decided to wait until the check was firmly in hand before we splurged on lamb shanks for dinner, but promised White Dog that the very day the bank notifies Steve of the refund deposit we would indulge. Quinn, our chowhound, waits at the door already because one thing he has learned is that celebrations at our house always include great food! Meantime, White Dog has pulled the dog supply and treat catalogs out of the recycle pile and is busily leafing through them, turning down corners to mark "necessities" that the refund will buy. Right next to her, Steve is on his laptop drooling over new cars. I am afraid both are going to be mightily disappointed and practicality will win out.

Yes but it is so nice to dream. We know the practical things must come first but our dreams take over sometimes.. MOL.... Its ice to get a windfall from time to time.. Hugs GJ x

Money is money and even if it has to go into the bank for a rainy day - it is still furry nice to have around!
Always nice to dream....
Playing catchup again:( So good to see what a great role model White Dog is for Quinn. AND how wonderful to see that Quinn has learned when to expect great treats:) Hope they all get some goodies.

Congratulations on the refund. Our hu-dad did finish his, but he is licking his wounds from the check he had to write. He keeps saying we should be dependents, whatever that means.
I ususally get a small refund - but my boyfriend got a good sized one this year so we are getting our couch, which we need (ok, we did go a bit crazy and get the really nice ones I wanted). But I know we thought about all the fun stuff we could do with the money. It is nice when you can do the practical but with a little bit of fun mixed in!
practicality won out at our house this year
