White Dog and Quinn made beating the heat their number one priority of the day. With temperatures hovering at 100 degrees and the humidity uncharacteristically high, I think everyone (two- and four-legged) in town had the same goal. The swamp cooler ran continuously all day and made a dent in the wall of oppressiveness but the price was watching the electric meter turn to moving forward for the first time since March. The solar panels just could not produce enough energy to keep up with our need for cool. White Dog and The Other White Dog were sympathetic only to a point. "Remember," they both pleaded, "We are wearing double fur coats; that means we deserve ice cubes, cold treats and extra consideration." "You are right," I said as I handed out treats and brushed coats, "I wish I could do more..." "Just keep holding that glass of cold tea for me to sip," White Dog interrupted, "And could you fan me a little right by my face?"

P.S. No real Milo news today. She came down off her perch (the regular way) and hung out on Quinn's blanket in the closet all day. This wanting to be down and enclosed was a behavior that she exhibited the one time when she was much younger and actually laid eggs. If she is gravid, she is just starting to grow them and it is too early to be sure (you can see them through her sides when they are almost big enough to lay). Quinn is keeping a close eye on her.

Rainy here. Hoping for nice days soon.

Not quite that warm here yet, but we totally sympathize with the double coat dilemma. It is very humid here and finally some sun after tons of rain.

We hope it cools off for you soon - we got a bit warmer so maybe some of the heat has moved our way. And yes, those hot days must be hard on the White Dog and The Other White Dog - they are so floofy!

We are glad that Milo is still doing the same - we would like her to be better but at least she isn't worse - we are still sending her lots of purrs and prayers. And it is so sweet that Quinn checks on her - he is such a good boy!

That 90 degree weather is coming to Morgan Hill this weekend.

We'll have ice water in our dish and get fruit pops.

We like the idea of Prinnie's wading pool, but we would probably just drink from it.

Hugs and yips,
Cappy and Ollie
