White Dog and Quinn were sad when we saw their Chicago friends, Howard and Jim, late this morning to bid them "safe trip home" and "hurry back." Both White Dogs will miss the extra tummy rubs and attention, not to mention the treats. We humans will miss the shared time and conversation that picked up right where it left off when last we were physically together more than 1-1/2 years ago.

We know they made it back without hitch because they have called to tell us they were on Illinois soil and that they missed us already. In turn, White Dog yipped in greeting and The Other White Dog sent a hearty "Woof!" their way.

Now we are all tired from the adventure and have spent the evening trying to gracefully shift back to our "normal" routine. But it seems too quiet...and dinner was merely chicken and rice, no frills, no extra garni.

P.S. WD and TOWD scored mightily from guilt generated purchases in Santa Fe. Howard found a guy in one of the food booths at the Plaza art show who was selling a variety of human food jerkies...all handmade by him and including bison BBQ, chicken in maple glaze, and salmon. When I could not make up my mind which would be best appreciated, Howard and Jim, added to the bounty by contributing so that the pups would "get a nosh of all the choices..." And at the Museum of Native American Arts, we could not resist adding three bars of blueberry buffalo pemmican to the stash (three because Michael is ALSO a fan of pemmican thanks to Casper, Nikki and Buddy's...and now Cotton's mom)!

With guilt treats like that, WD and TOWD just might trick you into feeling guilty more often:)
