October 26, 2010

White Dog looked at me as if I had lost my mind. I had crawled out from the blanket I was wrapped in, moved her more securely onto the arm of the chair so that I could open the front door...just enough, I rationalized. It had warmed up considerably from the 34 degrees which started our morning (it was upper 50's) and poor Quinn had asked so politely all morning for the chance to go out to nap on the carpet on the front porch. The house heat immediately kicked on but the grateful look The Other White Dog gave me as he squeezed through the opening warmed in a different way. White Dog snorted but snuggled back closer to me as I resettled, tucked the blanket and picked up my novel.

In short order WD was curled up like an angelic fox snoring softly. I smiled as I tried to turn pages without moving too much. A while later TOWD came in and silently hopped on the couch. He circled to get comfortable and he too, began to snore. I knew this was a perfect opportunity to get some computer work accomplished but I was held in place. I closed my book and just watched the White Ones as they slept so peacefully. The scene made my heart joyful as I thought about how lucky I truly was to be able to, in the middle of the day, just sit and drink in the serene beauty of dogs who trust and love so completely.

hey Siku Marie and Quinn,

What a heartwarming story by your mom! You pups are so fortunate to have such a loving, caring mom. And you both obviously bring much joy and happiness to her life. I love stories like yours!

sounds like it was a happy day for all.

on another note, do you know if there is a not so good eskie breeder in Lancaster (the shelter area where Quinn came from)? Ive noticed in my daily perusing of the LA Animal Shelter pages they always have a couple eskies there but not the other shelters.

We can so perfectly picture the scene - you painted a very sweet and loving experience. We are sure the two WDs feel the same way about you.

And your words just transported us to the room you shared with the White Dogs. It was a lovely interlude. And now, the added bonus, Moma sits back and watches us softly sleep, dream and, yes, snore.

With love
