December 25, 2010

White Dog turned and snuggled a little closer against me. I could hear The Other White Dog snoring in his "man fort." Another White Dog was passed out, still in her party dress, on her bed. Still Another White Dog had gotten up for a necessary break and had resettled herself on the floor at the foot of our bed. Everyone was sleeping in! Last night was long, exciting, fun AND exhausting.

We heard Michael creep upstairs around nine and decided that maybe it was time to open presents and to make breakfast (Quinn and Nuka's idea was turkey, which was seconded by Puff's request to also add in some ham). Santa was very very generous to all of us and The White Dog Army was remembered indulgently by not just by us but also by our Heart Family across the country, by the transport drivers who brought Nuka to us, and by our local friends who left gifts under the tree last night...Gregg, Candace, Dragon and their "big" dogs gave us a wonderful additional donation to Canine Cancer Research and made a gift to Watermelon Ranch Rescue, where Michael volunteers. We are very blessed to have so many loving and thoughtful people in our lives.

Today is a quiet family day. We will spend time just being together...and relaxing.

The White Dog Army and Steve and I wish all of our blog friends a very special day filled with warm family moments, delicious pampering, the opportunity to share joy, new cherished adventures with caring friends, and love, both given and received.

We ask that you take a second in your celebration to be thankful and to remember those who will spend this day without homes, or enough food, or in ill health, or lacking in hope, or with no one to share. Pray, in whatever way you address the Universe, for peace, compassion and understanding for all...that, after all, it what today is really about.

Merry Christmas and Thanks for your wonderful friendship.
