White Dog, Quinn, Nuka, Puff, and YoYoMa join paws to send brave Butchy and his family White Dog peace as he makes his journey tomorrow, leaving behind forever the seizure and cancer monsters. The White Dog Army stands as part of our community's Circle of Paws surrounding him with love; we will light a candle to guide him over the Bridge; and we will send tearful understanding as that is the best we can offer to ease the pain that comes with saying goodbye.

The horrible disease that claims yet another of our family cannot be allowed to win. Cancer has taken too many too soon and ripped unfillable holes in the loving hearts of too many families. White Dog and The White Dog Army believe that we can vanquish this evil forever if we all work together to find a cure. And we believe a cure will not just come for dogs, or cats, or humans, but for all living creatures.

Research is putting the pieces together and tying us all together...cancer is cancer...and advances in one species moves forward the entire fight. Like people, companion animals develop cancer - they get brain, breast, bone & lung cancer; lymphoma and melanoma just to name a few and scientists have discovered that the malignant cells are biologically comparable.

Furthermore cats and dogs are exposed to the same environmental risks so if we hope to eradicate cancer there is tremendous potential in forming a partnership between pets and people.

But researchers are not the only warriors needed. Funding is essential, and awareness is the first and strongest tool in our arsenal. Everyone has a role to play.

We ask, for Butchy, and The Luke, and Hana, and our angel sister, Sheena, and so many others, that each of you make a commitment to count coup on cancer by doing just one thing this week: make a donation...or if you cannot afford it...sign a petition for funding...or sign up for a 2MillionDog Walk...or learn the warning signs to watch for...share an article...get a mammogram (this is not just about dogs)...or have your prostate checked...eat better...exercise...stop using toxic cleaning supplies...spread the word that help is needed...there are hundreds of actions that will draw a line in the sand and let this monster know that we will NOT give up.

Cancer. Touches. Everyone. And we all are part of the Cure. Let's make it happen in our lifetimes.

You said it so very well. Our thoughts are with Butchy. And, we remember our two dogs and my mother who all lost battles with cancer. I shall do one thing this week - you've inspired me.

Your words have touched deeply.
Words that have so much feeling and emotion.
Our hearts are sad for Butchy,, our hearts are saddened for the many who are affected by cancer,, human and furry...
it grabs at our ankles sometime in our life.. we all must stand together and fight,,, we cannot give up.
i am not letting me mama give up,,
i will not let anyone give up who is fighting.
Tonight I light my candle for Butchy.
Your post is beautiful
