White Dog gasped in disbelief as we watched this video of Bino, American Hero Dog finalist and the Grand Marshal for the 2MillionDogs Puppy Up New Mexico Canine Cancer Awareness Walk. "Military Working Dogs are considered EQUIPMENT!" she flumed, "that is totally outrageous!" Getting to know Bino has been an eye opener to the White Dog Army about how our dogs who serve are viewed and treated by the military. It is shameful and sad that these brave incredible pups finish their service and then are virtually ignored. The WDA has promised to help spread awareness about this situation and hope that you will help us be heard. These American Heroes, Bino and his comrades, deserve our gratitude and lifelong support. Let's push to make that happen.

Please remember to vote for Bino at http://www.americanherodog.org/ . If he wins, his prize goes to help these very dogs.

hey White Dog Army,

Great informative post! Thank you for helping to spread the word. The Military really needs to get into the 21st century with their mentality toward animals. It is a shame how they treat not only their service dogs (who should be classified as soldiers), but also how the Navy is torturing and killing beautiful creatures of the sea with their sonar, and how the Military also conducts gruesome experiments on animals.

I am not bashing the Military, just their stance toward, and treatment of, animals. So let's hope the Power of the Paws will work to change the Military's treatment of animals for the better.

p.s. Bino is a beauty!

We had no idea how the Military treated animals.:( We agree with Suka, we hope the Military will treat animals the way all animals should be treated...with love and respect.

Love,

Thanks for sharing. It really is sad that too many of these great dogs are long forgotten after their services are up. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we are with you to help spread the word.

We wish these dogs were treated better too....they are working just as hard as the soldiers and deserve better. :P We hope the more people who know will stand up.

I had no idea that happened and thought they were looked after by their handlers when they retired. I so hope this helps the brave pups get the recognition they deserve. Hugs GJ xx

How shameful that this is how military service dogs are treated! We'll go visit and vote for Bino now.

Aww...what a sweet pup Bino is.
I can't believe that they just used to euthanize the dogs once they were done, that is just wrong!
