December 11, 2011
White Dog read the email over my shoulder. "This is a reason to Celebrate!" she said as she summoned the rest of the White Dog Army and Steve in to share the news.
All of the 2MillionDog Puppy Up Walks to End Cancer have been completed for 2011. This year approximately 2,000 people and 1,700 dogs participated in 27 Puppy Up! Walks across the country to raise awareness of Canine Cancer and Comparative Oncology. This will allow the organization to grant research funding on a new project this year for the first time! We are so incredibly grateful to all our friends in the blogging community for your support that helped make this possible. It is our commitment in the White Dog Army to continue to work tirelessly for the day when cancer.touches.no one.
While this may seem like a small victory, 2MillionDogs in 2010 held only seven Walks and attracted only a few hundred participants. This year's accomplishment puts the c monster on notice that too many have been taken too soon and that we will allow it to terrorize us no longer. So we have reason to cheer...and be hopeful. Next year maybe 108 cities and then 432 and then...
So join us, White Dog invites, in a reason to celebrate. Go for an extra Walk. Have a healthy treat. Howl out your excitement. The White Dog Army?
We plan to head for the Park and rewalk the route in a victory lap...and then maybe leave scone crumbs on the seats in Pumpkin.
