White Dog and The White Dog Army
Wonderful World Wednesday
;

White Dog and The White Dog Army agree that Spring is their favorite season. They love the return of song birds (some who build nests in our trees). They sniff endlessly at emerging plants pushing up through the earth. The unfurling tree buds begin to create the dappled light that they so love to rest under in the afternoons of returning warm sunshine to our yard. It is a season that highlights with color and scent the bright promise of the future.
The WDA enjoys that so many two- and four-leggeds share their Springtime delight. The Park is filling with people, smiling, and breathing in the freshness. More pups and their families venture out for walks and playtime and social wags. We see kitties sitting in screened windows and open doorways, watching the world and taking pleasure in the view.
Best is the reaction children have to this season. Filled with wonder and eyes wide at the magic of the earth’s reawakening, children capture all of the hope and joy that makes the world at this time of year so wonderful.
The thought that there are children unable to swing in the bright sun or run across greening grass fills us with a sense of innocence denied. We hope that one day in the future all children will be spared sickness, unsafe homelands, and all of the reasons that exclude childhood’s joys. Until then we are grateful for hero dogs, like Mr. Gibbs, who gives his young owner an opportunity to experience just how wonderful the world, especially in the spring, can be:

Dog keeps young girl alive by carrying her oxygen
Alida Knobloch, a 3-year-old girl who must use an oxygen tank at all times to continue breathing, has found a lifesaver and best friend in her service dog, who carries her oxygen tank, enabling her to roam and play.

Thanks for sharing thoughts about Spring! We had just finished reading the story about Mr Gibbs and his little 3 year old friend. Precious. Dogs give us so much and such unconditional love. We are blessed to have them in our lives. We can also learn from them if we will.

This is such a beautiful post.
Your words are so true.
Thank you also for including the song for us to listen to Life is Beautiful. I had never heard it before, and I felt it in my heart.

I love spring too. Usually, I delight in every single little sign of it. But, for the past few days, I've cried at every sign... for fear that my K won't be here when the leaves come out and the first flowers bloom. I'll get back in the right state of mind soon. I've been trying very very hard to keep an upbeat attitude. Your comments help me so much.

A wonderful story of a doggie hero.

I just saw your comment at my blog. Thank you so much. It is a touching song. Life *is* beautiful but, by finding the beauty and the love in life, we also open ourselves up to grief. It's worth it but the pain can be intense.

We've had a very rough day, and I'm so grateful for your friendship.
