March 9, 2013

White Dog and the rest of the White Dog Army blocked my passage into the office. "Where do you think you are going?" she asked. "That should be pretty obvious," I replied, "since the office door only leads to the office. Is there a problem?"

"We know you are feeling pretty good again," YoYoMa said gently, "but we think this week has been very hard on you physically and mentally. Getting the sickies yesterday was your body telling you to take a break." "Well, Dr. Ma, that is some pretty fancy diagnosing. Where did you say you went to med school?"

"Momma, he is just saying that we are all concerned about you." Quinn interjected. "There is no need to be unkind." "It is another sign you need to step out of the rat race...just for a little while," Nuka joined in.

I sighed. I hate when the White Ones are so clearly right. I did need to just let the World pass me by for a while. "OK, what do you want me to do?"

I surrendered myself to their advice and did not even turn on my computer. No emails. No Facebook. I was given fifteen minutes to blog about my sickies on Steve's fancy phone (which I hate) and then I was out of touch again. No newspaper. Political discussion with Michael...not today. When he complained about the rude service he received at the store, the WDA ushered him out of the room shushing him from his rant.

Steve made a simple supper as Puff laid on my feet and Oso anchored my lap to keep me from doing any fussing to help. After, White Dog summoned us into the bedroom, where our only TV lives.

"We haven't had family movie night in a long time," she said, "but we could not agree on a movie so instead we are going to have a Glee marathon. The show is full of song and dance and is realistically upbeat...just what we think you need."

It WAS a quiet refreshing evening, all of us together, all of us sharing hopes and dreams spelled out in music. And at the end of the fourth episode, Steve smacked his forehead. "What?" WD asked shaken from her comfy position of lying across our legs. "I forgot tonight is the Daylight Savings Time Change," he said, "it is now 2 in the morning! We better go to sleep!" "SOME of us already are," mumbled a voice from the floor next to him (Yo), "turn off the lights already!"

I enjoyed the time change (though I am working nights so it was one less hour of work rather than one less hour of sleep)

Stop on by for a visit

Well, we are glad the White Dog Army is so very wise, and loves you so much. A day away from all sources of stress and hurry is a very, very good thing. :)

Hugs to you all!
